Welcome to the Cinematic Crossroads. Film fans from around the world love to discuss movies. And as with everything in else in life, there are always differences of opinions. Even with movies that might be considered classics or highly regarded, there are some that we just don't agree on them. We always assume that if someone is a difference of opinion on a particular title than you, they obviously don’t know what they’re talking about! So we’ve created this page so a few die-hard fans can chew over some titles that tend to divide us hard-core students of the genre into different camps, and give them a chance to voice their thoughts.
Our goal with this project is simple: to take one horror film and run it through the discussion pipeline amongst some seasoned horror fans to get their take on it, especially when those opinions might not meet eye to eye. All you have to do is click on the banner below to get to that particular film discussion. Directly below will be the latest title to be put on the cutting block for discussion. Below the banner are the bios for those involved with this project. And below the bios will be the past films that we have discussed.
So go ahead and click on the banner and lets get this conversation going!
Aaron Christensen (aka “Dr. AC”) was born the same year as ROSEMARY'S BABY, WITCHFINDER GENERAL, DESTROY ALL MONSTERS, and NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. He has viddied over 2000 individual fright flick titles (and counting), and continues to scour the mainstream, foreign markets and fringe indies in search of that next big thrill. In addition to editing 2008’s Rondo-nominated film guidebook, HORROR 101: The A-List of Horror Films and Monster Movies, Aaron’s genre-related blatherings have been published in Fangoria, Rue Morgue and HorrorHound magazines, as well as his own blog, Horror 101 with Dr. AC. He is also a founding member of WildClaw Theatre, Chicago’s only year-round horror theatre company. Many thanks to Herr Kitley for inviting him to the party.
Jon Kitley is the Head Corpse at Kitley’s Krypt, which has been running since 1998. Jon is also a staff writer for HorrorHound magazine, always trying to put the spotlight on some obscure titles with each issue. His work has also been in HORROR 101: The A-List of Horror Films and Monster Movies, as well as appearing in Midnight Marquee’s Fanex Files and Midnight Madness documentaries. He has been attending horror movie conventions for over 20 years, continuing his drive to Discover the Horror, for himself and to help others do the same.
Brian Kirst is currently the creative force behind Big Gay Horror Fan and the co-host of Ax Wound Radio with feminist horror icon, Hannah Nerotica. His work has appeared on Fangoria.com, Horror Society, Racks and Razors and various other sites and publications. Most recently, he hosted the Women in Horror panel for WildClaw Theatre at the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and has completed work on the Philip Cable cult film, Vampiress: Lady of the Night, starring long reigning scream queen Deborah Dutch.
Dave Kosanke writes and publishes Liquid Cheese, the fanzine of movies and music to mangle your mind! He also is a staff writer for Horrorhound magazine. His written work has appeared in Scary Monsters and Midnight Marquee. Dave wrote the RE-ANIMATOR and VIDEODROME chapters in the famed Horror 101 book. He has spent the last year and half building a home theater in his basement and is only now starting to enjoy the fruits of his labor!
